Professional Experience/Role

Dr. Sakr is a dual board-certified physician in family and sports medicine, having earned the degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He currently serves as Head Team Physician for University of Arizona Football and as a Sports Medicine physician at Campus Health Services. He has extensive clinical, research and teaching experience, serving as an Assistant Professor at University of Pittsburgh and Duke University Medical Centers. He was a consulting physician at the UPMC Concussion Center, Associate team physician for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, Head Team Physician at Georgia State and Robert Morris Universities. He recently served as Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine and Sports Medicine Fellowship Director at Northside Hospitals in Atlanta. Dr. Sakr has extensive experience treating athletes of all ages and skill levels, including pediatric, high school, college, professional and Olympic athletes. He serves as a Team Physician for USA Rugby, where he provides care for the USA Men’s 15s National Team and Olympic 7s Men’s and Women’s Teams and is a Member of the World Rugby Player Welfare Working Group.
