Dr. Hayes has been a licensed clinical psychologist with CAPS since October 2017. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at The University of Alabama and completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has previously worked in the VA Health Care System and has a strong background in providing evidence-based treatments, particularly for trauma-related and substance use disorders. She has experience working with sexual abuse or assault, emotion dysregulation, self-harm, suicidality, behavioral addictions, and LGBTQ issues. Dr. Hayes utilizes an integrative approach that is heavily informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based and cognitive-behavioral theories, and interpersonal interventions. She currently works providing triage services and individual therapy.
