Exemptions for International Students

Only international students need to contact our office for exemption requests.  All exemption requests MUST be submitted to the Campus Health Insurance Office during the published “Open Enrollment” periods and each semester thereafter.  These “Open Enrollment” notices are communicated to you through your official University of Arizona email address (@email.arizona.edu).  Failure to do so will result in you being liable for paying the insurance premium.  Cancellation of the Student Health Insurance is not permitted through Student Link.

If you register for classes in any of the following semesters, your exemption request must be received by the deadline date:

Winter session 2008 and Spring 2009 coverage period – Deadline January 28, 2009
Summer 2009 Pre-session and Summer 2009 session I coverage period – Deadline June 22, 2009
Summer 2009 session II coverage period – Deadline July 27, 2009

Fall 2009 coverage period – Deadline September 8, 2009

In most cases the following circumstances may be acceptable exemptions from enrollment in the Student Health Insurance:

If you fall into any of the listed categories below, please submit the Exemption Request form and required documentation to our office by fax, email or mail.  Please include your name, student ID number and the semester in which you are requesting the exemption.  Once received, you will be notified through your official university email address (@email.arizona.edu) within ten business days to let you know if your request has been approved.

Exemptions cannot be made for Individual policies.
