SHADE
Program

Fall 2009 Schedule
Campus Health provides a Student Health Alcohol Drug Education (SHADE) program for students who are in violation of alcohol and marijuana policies at the University of Arizona.
Students are referred to the program through the Dean
of Students Office and Residence Life. The SHADE Alcohol class is structured
to provide feedback to promote motivation to change drinking behaviors of high-risk drinkers
to include safer drinking or non-drinking habits.
In this class, students are taught how to estimate
the alcohol content of the beverages they consume, and learn how
to calculate their own blood alcohol concentration. Students are
encouraged to pace their intake, avoid intoxication, plan consumption
and learn how to recognize when it is time to stop drinking.
In addition to the SHADE class, students have the
opportunity to request additional assistance through individual
consultations with professional staff.
There is a $100
fee for the class. Students must register in advance online by clicking here, or by calling 621-5700. If a student fails to cancel a class he/she registered for and does not attend, the student is still responsible for the fee.
Reminder: Students failing to complete e-CHUG as spelled out in the annual memo from President Shelton will be assessed a $50 penalty if referred for an alcohol violation.
SHADE classes are located on the 3rd floor of
Campus Health in Room D304.
