The Occupational Health Clinic provides a variety of services for University departments and their employees, including student employees. The Occupational Health Clinic is staffed by a Board-certified occupational health physician and medical and administrative support staff.
Currently we provide preventive medical care, also known as Medical Surveillance, for employees whose job duties involve work with the following:
Biological Hazards
Respirator Use
Chemical Hazards
Exposure to certain chemicals above occupational exposure limits, or performing work tasks for which OSHA requires or NIOSH recommends specific job-related medical exams.
- Asbestos or Refractory Ceramic Fibers (RCF)
- Hazardous Waste
- Chemicals with specific OSHA standards such as formaldehyde, lead or cadmium
Who is Eligible for Services?
To be seen at Occupational Health, you must be registered in one of the programs above, or obtain an authorization form from UA Risk Management (Julia Rosen at 621-1570, jcrosen@email.arizona.edu). In most cases, you would be contacted by Occupational Health staff to schedule an appointment(s) if needed. At this time, CDL driver exams and controlled substance testing are performed at off-site clinics. Please contact John Murphy, Fleet Safety Officer at 621-4551, murphjoh@email.arizona.edu.
Injured on the Job?
We also provide medical care for certain types of work place injuries or illnesses, mostly related to potential exposures to infectious materials or chemical agents.
In the event of a job-related injury or exposure, you can come to the Campus Health Service Triage/Urgent Care area on the first floor of the building, or call 621-6493 or 621-6490. You will be directed appropriately at that time. You may also choose to be seen at any hospital, urgent care center, or your private practitioner’s office. The forms and procedures for work-related injuries are located on the UA Risk Management Workers Compensation website. For questions, please contact Belen Aranda, at 621-3626 baa@email.arizona.edu.
