Executive Director for Health & Wellness
and Director of the Campus Health Service
Dr.
Harry McDermott is the Executive Director and staff physician at
Campus Health. His degrees include a B.S. in Biology from Penn State,
a M.D. from Georgetown University, School of Medicine and a Masters
in Public Health from the University of Arizona. He completed a
Family Medicine internship at the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania
and then worked for three years with the Indian Health Service before
coming to the UA Campus Health Service in 1987. At Campus Health,
Dr. McDermott’s work focuses on patient care, health service administration
and public health issues impacting the university community.
Linda
Lundergan, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr.
Linda Lundergan is a Preventive Medicine physician and is Chairperson
of the Quality Improvement Committee at Campus Health. Linda received
her M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and has
a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Arizona.
She completed an internship in medicine at Tucson Hospital's Medical
Education Program, and did her residency in Preventive Medicine
at the U of A. Linda's special interests include smoking cessation
and general preventive medicine.
Melvyn G. Weinberg, M.D.
Dr.
Mel Weinberg is an Internist at the Campus Health Service. He is
a graduate of the University of Illinois Medical College (M.D.)
in Chicago, Illinois, and did his residency and fellowship training
at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Mel is
board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, and
is a diplomat of both the American Board of Internal Medicine and
the Infectious Diseases Subspecialty Board. His special interests
include infectious diseases, medical ethics, and combating the overuse
of antibiotics for common viral infections.
Tejal Parikh, M.D.
Dr.
Parikh did her residency in Family Practice at the University of
Arizona and has been in private practice in Tucson since 1993. She
was chosen by Woodward/White as one of the "Best Doctors in America:
Pacific Region" in Family Medicine. Her hobbies include rock climbing,
running, and hiking with her husband. She also enjoys playing with
her two dogs and her son.
Maureen Oskandy, M.D.
Dr.
Oskandy got her B.A. in Biology and Anthropology from North Central
College in Naperville, IL in 1979. She received her M.D. from Loyola-Stritch
Medical School in Chicago in 1982. She did her residency in Family
Practice at the U of A from 1982-85. She was Chief Resident in 1985.
She is board-certified in Family Practice. She has worked for Indian
Health Service and has a special interest in Native American culture
and health. She had a full-spectrum family practice for 8 years
at Thomas-Davis Clinic. She speaks Spanish. She enjoys teaching
and has taught medical students for 15 years. She also enjoys spending
time with her husband and 2 sons.
Nicole Stern, M.D.
Dr. Stern is a staff physician at the Campus Health Service. She received her M.D. degree and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, she completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. At Campus Health, Dr. Stern specializes in internal medicine and sports medicine, and she also teaches students (premed and medical) and internal medicine/family practice residents.

Marianne Weeks, MSN, PCN
Marianne
is a Family Nurse Practitioner in General Medicine unit of Campus
Health. She has a masters degree in Nursing and holds a Primary
Care Nurse Specialist degree from the University of Arizona.
Stephen Paul, MD, ABFP, CAQ-Sports
Dr. Stephen Paul is a physician at the Campus Health
Service. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Texas
Health Science Center in Houston, did his residency at the University
of Arizona in Family Medicine, and is board-certified by the Academy
of Family Practitioners and in Sports Medicine. In addition, he
completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Center for Sports
Medicine and Orthopedics in Phoenix. At Campus Health, Steve specializes
in primary care and sports medicine. He is assistant team physician
for UA intercollegiate sports. He also serves as Clinical Assistant
Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of
Arizona College of Medicine. He is the Director of the University
of Arizona Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Donald Porter, MD,
ABFP, CAQ-Sports
Dr.
Donald Porter is a staff physician at the Campus Health Service
and a team physician for intercollegiate athletics at the University
of Arizona. He received his undergraduate degree (BS) in biology
and his M.D. degree from the U of A He is board certified in family
practice and sports medicine. He is head team physician for UA intercollegiate
sports. He also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family
and Community Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine
and also participates in the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Michael Stilson, MD,
ABP, FABP, CAQ-Sports
Dr.
Mike Stilson is a physician at Campus Health. He received his B.A.
and M.D. degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder and
did his residency at the University of Arizona. He is also board-certified
in Pediatrics and Sports Medicine. At Campus Health, Mike provides
primary medical care, concentrating on sports medicine injuries
and problems. His special interest is in injury prevention and promotion
of active lifestyles. He is assistant team physician for UA intercollegiate
sports. He also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Stilson is
Director of Medical Services at Campus Health.
Jessica Byron, M.D.
Dr. Jessica Byron is a physician in the Women's Health
Clinic at Campus Health. She received her B.S. from Arizona State
University and her M.D. from the University of Arizona College of
Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Missouri
and is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with additional
training in ultrasound, laser, colposcopy, and advanced laparoscopic
surgery.
Susan Black, OGNP
Susan
is a nurse practitioner in the Women's Health Clinic at Campus Health.
She is a graduate of Wichita St. Joseph's School of Nursing and
received her OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner Certificate from The University
of Arizona where she completed the nurse midwifery program. She
is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Faye Libbey, OGNP
Faye
is a nurse practitioner
in the Women's Health Clinic at Campus Health. Her degrees include
a R.N. degree and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from McGill University
(Montreal), a M.A. in Education from the University of Houston,
and a Masters degree in Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner Certificate
from the University of Phoenix.
Mary Halbach, PT, CSCS
Mary
Halbach is the Supervisor of Physical Therapy. She is a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist with her BA from the University
of Arizona in General Studies and a BS from Daemen College in Amherst,
NY for Physical Therapy. Her area of current focus is working as
a part of the Sports Medicine Team at the Health Center with a special
interest in prevention and treatment of athletic Injuries.
Jenny Allen ATC, PT, CSCS
Jenny is a staff physical therapist at the Campus Health Service and an Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist for intercollegiate athletics at the University of Arizona. She received her BS in Biology from the University of Arizona, a Masters in Education in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia, and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She participates in triathalons.
J. Michael Hitt, M.D.
As
a high school teacher, Dr. Hitt was named Arizona Science Teacher
of the Year. He wanted to use his teaching skills in more personal
and life changing ways so he left Secondary Education to pursue
medical school here at the U of A. After graduating with his MD,
he pursued and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Toxicology
at our College of Pharmacy and completed his Residency in Occupational
Medicine through the U of A Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Believing in their vision that Occupational Medicine could be delivered
in pleasant surroundings with kind, yet expert, Providers, Dr. Hitt
formed Corporate Medical Center, along with Dr. Wayne Peate. The
practice was sold after an extraordinary reception and endorsement
by employers, patients and even insurance carriers. Dr. Hitt continued
on as Corporate Medical Director for Helian Health Group and later,
Concentra. Within the scope of these practices, Dr. Hitt was the
on-site Employee Health Director at Tucson Medical Center for 7
years and has continued to hold the same position at University
Medical Center since 1999. He also serves part time at Sunnyside
Medicenter, with a focus of caring for miners and other ‘heavy industry’
workers. At Campus Health, Dr. Hitt is the Occupational Health physician
and works largely with employees and students involved in animal
care and research. He also performs various job-related physicals
and provides treatment for some on-the-job injuries.

Bruce
Helming, MD
Dr. Bruce Helming is a staff physician at the Campus Health Service
and assistant team physician for intercollegiate athletics at the
University of Arizona. He is board certified in Family Medicine and
Sports Medicine. He is a graduate of the U of A Family Medicine
Residency Program and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. He
serves as an instructor and faculty in the Department of Family and
Community Medicine at the U of A College of Medicine. He is also a
fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is fluent in
Spanish.

Thomas, MD
Dr. Thomas went to both undergrad and medical school here at the U of A. She is board certified in Family Medicine. She joined Campus Health in 2007, covering General Medicine, Women’s Health, and Urgent Care. “Our patients come from all over the world. I have seen more rare, difficult diagnoses in one year here than in ten years of private practice.” The best part of working at Campus Health is the patients. “U of A students are so enthusiastic about school. It’s fun to hear about all the exotic, far-flung things they are studying.”
