2007 Flu News
(*
Flu Shots are Now Available * - November 2007)
Flu
shots are available for any student, faculty or staff member at
the UA who wishes to receive one. The ideal time to be vaccinated
against the flu is in November and December. The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people in the following
situations seriously consider getting a flu shot every year:
- Have
a chronic (ongoing) illness
- Have
regular contact with children less than 6 months old
- Children
6 to 59 months old
- Are
65 years or older
- Will
be pregnant during the flu season (November – March)
Additionally,
Campus Health encourages all students living in the residence halls
to consider getting a flu shot since living in close quarters may
put those individuals at higher risk for influenza.
By
vaccinating yourself this Fall, you can protect your health and
the health of others before the holiday travel season.
To
receive your flu shot, simply stop by the Immunization Clinic at
Campus Health Service. The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and Wednesdays from 9 am to 4 pm. The
price of the flu vaccine is $15.
